MacOS X AudioUnit Validation Problems Solved

Karlsruhe, September 26th, 2008 - Over the past two weeks we have been investigating an issue that could cause Logic and other hosts to refuse to load our AudioUnit plug ins complaining that they had failed to pass the AU validation test. The same issue would cause Live to come up with an empty plug-in window. This problem apparently only affected a small percentage of our users and was therefore difficult to track down. Thanks to our users who have graciously contributed information and have run tests on their machines we were finally able to solve it and new versions for both morph AU (1.2.1) and OrangeVocoder 10AE (3.2.1) are available for download off our updates web site.

Please note that you might need to perform the additional steps listed below if the update does not solve the problem for you. These steps are as follows:

    (1) Remove the prefs file at ~/Library/Preferences/com.prosoniq.audiounit.OrangeVocoder-10AE.plist and/or ~/Library/Preferences/com.prosoniq.audiounit.morph.plist (the tilde ~ means that they are in your home directory, ie the directory that has your user name) by dragging the file to the trash. Please note that removing the prefs file requires you to re-enter your serial number(s)

    (2) Remove the contents of the folder at ~/Library/Caches and /Library/Caches (ie the one on the root directory and the one in your home directory) by selecting all files inside these folders and dragging them to the trash. You might be required to type in your root user password.

    (3) Please double check to make sure you only have one plug in installed at either ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components OR in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components.

Once you've done this please reboot your machine and try again.

Please note that this new version is a recommended update for all registered users of morph and OrangeVocoder 10AE and it is available on the Prosoniq “Download Updates” page. A new demo installer is also provided on the Prosoniq “Download” page.

This issue cropped up with the latest Apple updates, we are looking into it at this moment and will provide an updated demo version a.s.a.p. This problem does not affect the retail version of the product.

No, that will definitely work, the problem only affects the demo because of its restrictions. You can also use the "Reset Prosoniq Plug-Ins.app" application that gets installed in /Applications/Prosoniq Plug-In Support to reset all Prosoniq plug-in settings.

The validation problem with the demo version has been solved and a new version should become available from our download page any minute now (same version number).
